Five Iranian Red Crescent Rescue Workers martyred in Israeli Attacks, Hundreds of Civilians Martyred

Five rescue workers from the Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS) were killed while on duty amid Israeli military aggression, IRCS Chief Pir Hossein Kolivand announced during the Foreign Ministry’s weekly press conference on Monday. Kolivand provided a detailed report on the human and infrastructural toll of the 12-day conflict initiated by Israel against Iran.

Iran (IMNA) - According to Kolivand, the Israeli strikes resulted in the deaths of 126 women and 41 children, alongside 21 medical staff members. The attacks also targeted approximately 8,200 residential houses, with 400 completely destroyed. The deliberate targeting of ambulances, rescue workers, and a Red Crescent helicopter was highlighted as a grave violation of the Geneva Conventions, which protect medical and relief personnel in conflict zones.

Kolivand condemned these actions as intentional attempts by Israel to obstruct humanitarian efforts, stating, “No one has the right to attack medical and relief forces or civilians.” He further revealed that Red Crescent headquarters were struck twice during the conflict, and that the assault extended to critical infrastructure including Evin Prison and healthcare facilities.

The IRCS Chief emphasized that Iran has submitted comprehensive evidence of these violations to international bodies such as the International Committee of the Red Cross, the Human Rights Council, and the International Criminal Court. He called for global recognition of these war crimes and accountability for the atrocities committed.

This report underscores the disproportionate impact of the Israeli aggression on Iranian civilians and humanitarian workers, marking a significant escalation in the conflict’s human cost and raising urgent concerns about respect for international humanitarian law.

To date, 1,062 individuals have been confirmed martyred, and 5,800 have been injured. Additionally, approximately 100 injured patients are currently hospitalized, with 35 of them in intensive care units, and several of these patients remain in critical condition.

Among the total martyrs, 126 were women. Forty-seven of the martyrs were under the age of 18. Two pregnant mothers also lost their lives. Among the martyrs, 281 were civilians, of whom 107 belonged to the community of veterans and war veterans. There were also 32 families with two martyrs each, one family with 12 martyrs, one family with seven martyrs, one family with eight martyrs, and 17 families with one martyr each.

Part of the statistical discrepancies relates to Evin Prison, and some differences arise from martyrs who were martyred in Tehran but were buried in other provinces.
