On the verge of Arba’een, millions of people from all over the world have flocked to the Iraqi city of Karbala.
Iran (IMNA) - All Muslims around the world pay tribute to Imam Hussein, the grandson of the Prophet Muhammad and third Shia Imam, 40 days after his martyrdom. The shrines of Imam Hussein (PBUH) and his half-brother Abbas (PBUH) are visited by pilgrims during the largest religious gatherings in the entire globe.
Many pilgrims choose to walk their route, beginning at the holy city of Najaf, where Imam Hussein's father, Imam Ali, is resting. To get to Karbala, they trek 80 kilometers. Their major motivation for enduring this long journey is their devotion to Imam Hussein, who represents freedom and justice in Islam.
