Iran (IMNA)- "we are delighted that Isfahan's traffic police department feelS a strong sense of responsibility for using bicycles to carry out their urban missions," Ghodratollah Norouzi said during the ceremony for launching the Traffic Bicycle Patrol course of action in Isfahan.

Noting that the use of traffic bicycle patrols indicates the sensitivity of the police to the environment and attention to a healthy standard of living for citizens, the mayor of Isfahan added, "Isfahan has the capacity to create 777 km of cycling routes; so far, the city homes kilometers of cycling infrastructure."

Ghodratollah Norouzi continued, "The objective of the municipality in developing new bike facilities is to remove the single-occupancy vehicle trend and give a place to bicycles enter the city streets to reduce traffic and air pollution."

Reoffering that using bicycles will be very effective in reducing fuel consumption, he added, "This admirable action of the police department can be recognized as a pattern for students and businessmen. "

Norouzi pointed out, "the Municipality of Isfahan is trying to provide the necessary infrastructures to set up cycling routes in the city to create the context for citizens to use bicycles, and witness a livable and peaceful city."

Of the 777 km of cycling route intended for this objective, 300 km will be highly standard with a width of two meters, which will be retrofitted in the form of one-way and two-way routes with bike lane curbs.

55 kms of the new second-class city bike lanes with markings and traffic signs on the right side of the streets, 35 kms of the third-grade lanes along the sidewalks and 30 kms of the fourth-class tracks in special bus routes will be constructed.

According to the plans, a large part of the new bicycle routes will be implemented in the city by the end of this year, and the remaining will be realized by 1400 H.S. 42 kms of bicycle paths have been constructed in Isfahan so far, which need to be improved for standardization; the municipality of Isfahan hopes that such measures will create a great change in the city.
