Iran (IMNA) - The attacks began late on Wednesday and continued into the early hours of Thursday, targeting the provinces of Khuzestan, Hormozgan and Sistan and Baluchestan.
U.S. Central Command confirmed that it had carried out a new wave of strikes, claiming that the attacks targeted Iranian military capabilities which it alleged had been used to threaten shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.
In Ahvaz, the deputy security governor of Khuzestan province confirmed that at least five projectiles had struck the area. One of the attacks landed near Baghaei Hospital, a specialist cancer treatment center for children. The explosions shattered windows in nearby homes and prompted the families of young patients to rush to the hospital in panic.
According to the local medical university, more than 200 patients were transferred to other hospitals across the city and the hospital was temporarily taken out of service. Health officials said that no patients were injured.
Explosions were also heard in Qeshm, where the intensity of the attacks increased before dawn, with some blasts originating from coastal areas and the waters of the Strait of Hormuz and the Persian Gulf.
In Sistan and Baluchestan province, three powerful explosions were reported in Chabahar, while additional blasts were heard in Rask and the port city of Konarak.
Residents in Bandar Abbas also reported hearing explosions.
