Iran Will Never Renounce Right to Peaceful Uranium Enrichment: Envoy

Iran’s ambassador and permanent representative to the United Nations Office in Geneva has reaffirmed that the Islamic Republic will never give up its right to the peaceful enrichment of uranium, stressing that this right is guaranteed under international law.

Iran (IMNA) -Speaking at the Conference on Disarmament, Ali Bahreini strongly condemned recent attacks by the United States and the Israeli regime on Iranian nuclear facilities, describing them as a clear violation of the United Nations Charter, international law, and a serious blow to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).

Bahreini congratulated Mongolia on assuming the presidency of the Conference on Disarmament and reiterated Iran’s full support for efforts to revive the negotiating role of the body. He emphasized that the conference, as the only multilateral negotiating institution in the field of disarmament, must preserve its negotiating character and avoid turning into a purely dialogue-oriented forum.

Referring to developments in 2025, the Iranian envoy described the Israeli regime’s June 13 attack on Iran’s territorial integrity and political independence as illegal, premeditated, and in violation of the peremptory rules of international law.

He added that following this aggression, the United States, in coordination with a non-NPT regime, targeted Iran’s safeguarded nuclear facilities in Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan on June 22. According to Bahreini, these actions constitute a serious threat to international peace and security as well as to the NPT regime.

Bahreini said the Islamic Republic of Iran will respond to any act of aggression within the framework of the United Nations Charter, underlining that uranium enrichment for peaceful purposes is an indisputable and undeniable right of Iran as a member of the NPT, from which it will never deviate.

He also stressed that Iran has always been ready for genuine negotiations without preconditions and based on mutual respect.
