Iranian President Declares Ending Iran’s Nuclear Program ‘an Illusion,’ Vows Powerful Retaliation Against Israel if Attacked

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has firmly rejected international calls, led by the United States and Israel, to terminate Iran’s nuclear energy program, calling such efforts "an illusion."

Iran (IMNA) - Speaking in a Tuesday interview with Qatar’s Al Jazeera, Pezeshkian emphasized that uranium enrichment will continue on Iranian soil in accordance with international law and insisted that the program’s true strength lies in the expertise of Iranian scientists rather than physical facilities alone.

Addressing repeated U.S. claims of debilitating strikes on Iran’s nuclear sites, the president stated that the program’s end is a misconception, clarifying, “Nuclear capability resides in the minds of our scientists, not in our facilities.” He reaffirmed Iran’s official stance rejecting nuclear weapons, stressing that Iran pursues nuclear energy solely for peaceful purposes—a position consistently verified by the International Atomic Energy Agency despite extensive inspection.

Pezeshkian voiced readiness for negotiations only if Iran’s right to peaceful uranium enrichment remains intact and insisted that any discussions must be "based on a win-win logic."

The president also issued a stern warning to Israel regarding its prior attacks. Citing Iran’s recent deployment of hundreds of ballistic missiles and drones in response to an unprovoked 12-day Israeli war, Pezeshkian stated, “We are fully prepared for any Israeli military action, and our forces stand ready to strike deep into the occupied territories once again.” He suggested that Israel’s swift request for ceasefire after 12 days signals the severe impact of Iranian reprisals.

This declaration comes amid heightened tensions and prior Israeli and U.S. attacks on Iran’s nuclear facilities, which Iran claims caused significant damage but did not halt its enrichment program—Araghchi, Iran’s foreign minister, has noted that Iran’s nuclear enrichment “cannot be given up” due to national pride and strategic necessity.

Pezeshkian’s comments reiterate Tehran’s defiance in the face of international pressure, showcasing Iran’s determination to maintain and fortify its nuclear program while preparing for robust military responses if further attacked.
