Iranian Parliament Votes to Suspend Cooperation with IAEA Following U.S. Strikes on Nuclear Sites

The Iranian Parliament has overwhelmingly approved a plan to suspend cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) after recent U.S. military strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities.

Iran (IMNA) - During an open session held today, lawmakers considered the general outline of the proposal requiring the government to halt collaboration with the IAEA. The measure passed with 221 votes in favor, none against, and one abstention, out of 223 representatives present.

The parliamentary decision came in response to U.S. airstrikes on several Iranian nuclear sites, including facilities in Natanz, Fordow, and Isfahan, which Iran says were carried out in violation of international law and the United Nations Charter. The attacks followed Israeli military actions against Iran on June 13.

Iranian officials have stated that the country reserves all options to defend its sovereignty, interests, and people. The Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) condemned the attacks as a breach of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and asserted that such actions will not deter Iran from pursuing its peaceful nuclear program.
