Iran (IMNA) - Speaking at a ceremony at the Imam Khomeini mausoleum, Araghchi stressed that uranium enrichment is an essential national right and that demands to halt enrichment represent an act of dominance unacceptable to the Iranian people. He firmly stated that Iran rejects nuclear weapons and will not allow its rightful entitlements to be denied due to others' concerns. He affirmed that Iran will continue its nuclear activities with strength, guided by Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.
The remarks came shortly after the fifth round of nuclear negotiations between Iran and the US took place in Rome, with Araghchi leading the Iranian delegation and Steve Witkoff representing the US. Iran has consistently maintained it will not show any flexibility on its uranium enrichment rights under any circumstances. The talks remain complicated, with fundamental differences persisting, particularly regarding enrichment levels, but both sides have expressed some hope for progress.
Araghchi also highlighted that Iran seeks an agreement that fully lifts sanctions and guarantees its nuclear rights, including enrichment, while rejecting any demands that would deprive Iran of these rights. He criticized media speculation about imminent deals and warned that real progress depends on serious negotiations rather than headlines.
