Iran (IMNA) - Leading a high-ranking military delegation, Major General Baqeri highlighted the purpose of his visit to the Persian Gulf, Strait of Hormuz, and Sea of Oman: to assess the operational situation and evaluate the readiness of Iran’s Armed Forces, particularly the Army’s Navy and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy. He stressed the importance of defending Iran’s territorial waters, international waters, and national resources.
“During this visit, necessary field assessments will be conducted to ensure full preparedness for executing various operational plans,” Baqeri said. He added that Iran’s Armed Forces “remain in a state of full readiness for any scenario, and no threat will go unanswered.”
In a related development, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi issued a stern warning following rumors that U.S. President Donald Trump plans to rename the Persian Gulf during his upcoming visit to Saudi Arabia. Araghchi cautioned that such an act would provoke the “wrath of all Iranians.”
Iranian officials have consistently expressed concerns that the presence of foreign naval forces, particularly U.S. military vessels, in the Persian Gulf undermines regional security and complicates Iran’s efforts to protect this strategically vital waterway. Tehran views these foreign military activities as a source of tension and instability in the region.
