Iranians Mark 46th Anniversary of Islamic Revolution with Nationwide Rallies

Millions of Iranians commemorated the 46th anniversary of the 1979 Islamic Revolution with demonstrations across the country.

Iran (IMNA) - Celebrations took place on Monday, marked by displays of national unity and revolutionary spirit. Participants from Tehran to remote villages marched, carrying banners, waving the Iranian flag, and chanting slogans that reflected the revolution's legacy, which overthrew the U.S.-backed Pahlavi monarchy.

Demonstrators gathered at iconic locations, such as Azadi Square and Enqelab Square in Tehran, chanting "Death to America" and "Death to Israel," expressing opposition to foreign interference and Western influence. Senior officials, including President Masoud Pezeshkian, and religious figures addressed the nation, highlighting support for Palestine, Yemen, and Lebanon.

Across cities, students, religious scholars, and families of martyrs honored sacrifices made for the revolution and reaffirmed commitment to the ideals of Imam Khomeini. The 1979 Revolution, which replaced Western-backed oppression with a system based on Islamic principles, is seen as a beacon of defiance and inspiration for oppressed nations. Despite facing challenges such as economic sanctions and warfare, the Islamic Republic has continued to thrive.
