Iran (IMNA) - In an interview set to air on NBC News, Pezeshkian stated, "We will react to any action. We do not fear war, but we do not seek it." He expressed hope that such a scenario would not unfold, as it would be detrimental to all parties involved.
Pezeshkian also addressed accusations that Iran is pursuing nuclear weapons, labeling them as fabrications designed to create a pretext for aggression. He reaffirmed Iran's stance that its nuclear program is exclusively for civilian purposes, citing a Fatwa by the Leader of the Islamic Revolution that prohibits the possession and use of weapons of mass destruction.
This comes as Iran has recently conducted extensive air defense drills, codenamed "Eqtedar," aimed at protecting critical infrastructure, including nuclear sites like Fordow and Khondab. These exercises reflect Iran's heightened readiness in response to perceived security threats, following recent Israeli airstrikes that targeted Iran's air defense systems.
