Iran Offers Condolences Following South Korea Plane Crash

The Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman, Esmail Baghaei, has expressed condolences to South Korea in the wake of a tragic plane crash that resulted in the deaths of dozens of civilians.

Iran (IMNA) - The incident involved a passenger plane from the Republic of Korea that crashed while landing at Muan International Airport.

Baghaei conveyed his sorrow over the crash and extended sympathies to the governments and peoples of South Korea and Thailand, particularly to the families of the victims. He also wished for a swift recovery for those injured in the disaster.

Local sources report that at least 62 individuals have lost their lives in the crash, which occurred as the aircraft was landing. The Jeju Air flight was carrying 175 passengers and six crew members when it veered off the runway and collided with a fence. Preliminary investigations suggest that a bird strike may have caused the aircraft's landing gear to fail.

Rescue operations are ongoing, with reports indicating that two survivors have been rescued so far. Emergency responders are currently working to extinguish a fire ignited by the crash and to assist those trapped within the wreckage.
