Iranian Embassy's Consular Section in Damascus Attacked, Casualties Reported

Syria's official news agency, SANA, has reported that the Iranian Embassy's Consular Section in Damascus was targeted in a missile attack on Monday afternoon.

Iran (IMNA) - The aggression was allegedly carried out by "the Israeli enemy." A military source informed SANA that the attack occurred at around 1:17 p.m., with missiles launched from the occupied Syrian Golan.

Syria's air defense responded to the attack, managing to shoot down some of the incoming missiles. However, the building housing the Iranian consulate was completely destroyed, leading to casualties among the staff inside. Rescue efforts are underway to recover the bodies. The Israeli aggression also caused significant damage to nearby buildings.

Iran's Ambassador to Damascus, Hossein Akbari, has confirmed the reports of a missile attack by Israel on the Iranian Consulate in Damascus. According to Akbari, the Israeli regime targeted the consular building with six missiles, resulting in the tragic loss of seven lives. The names of the martyrs are yet to be specified.

Akbari criticized the Israeli regime for its disregard for international laws, expressing Iran's support for the resistant nation of Palestine and their determination not to be deterred by the Israeli regime's criminal actions.

In response to the attack, Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal Mekdad visited the Iranian Embassy in Damascus. Condemning the Israeli aggression, Mekdad assured that the Israeli occupation entity would not succeed in affecting the strong relations between Iran and Syria.
