Iran (IMNA) - Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday, Eslami highlighted Iran's advances in its peaceful nuclear energy program, particularly in the production of high-quality heavy water. He stated, "Iran is placed among the world's top five countries in many fields such as the nuclear industry."
Eslami emphasized Iran's self-sufficiency in heavy water production, a substance used in various applications such as microelectronics and medicine. He said, "Today, we are at the top of the list in terms of the quality and purity of heavy water that is produced without foreign help on the back of research by the country's scientists."
While acknowledging Iran's progress, Eslami also expressed concerns about the challenges faced in the nation's scientific progress in the nuclear and space sectors.
Despite ongoing US sanctions, Iran has made significant progress in its nuclear energy program in recent years. This progress has been achieved in defiance of international pressure and criticism from the United States.
Iran has maintained close cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). As a signatory to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), Iran is required to provide the IAEA with access to its nuclear facilities for inspection and monitoring.
