Constructive' discussions between Saudi crown prince, Iranian FM take place in Jeddah

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian met in Jeddah for "frank and fruitful" talks.

Iran (IMNA) - The highest level negotiations since the two countries reestablished relations following a long period of disconnection took place behind closed doors.

Amir-Abdollahian said he talked with the Saudi crown prince for 90 minutes in an online post on X, formerly known as Twitter, on Friday.

According to the minister, the conversations were "clear, frank, productive, and constructive based on neighborhood policy."

The minister noted that both sides emphasized the need to improve enduring relationships in all areas.

Amir-Abdollahian reaffirmed Iran's intention to strengthen ties with the states in the region, especially Saudi Arabia, during the meeting.

The senior Iranian diplomat stated, "By enhancing comprehensive cooperation, including in the political, economic, commercial, transit, scientific and technological, cultural, and popular fields, the Islamic Republic of Iran and Saudi Arabia could contribute to further growth and prosperity in the region."

According to him, Riyadh and Tehran have a "historic responsibility" in light of recent events throughout the world.

Amir-Abdollahian emphasized the need to foster discussion and development-oriented connections as the "path to success" in the area while highlighting Iran's accomplishments and strengths.

According to the minister, Iran, and Saudi Arabia are key players in the Muslim world and the region.

The Israeli government, says the Iranian foreign minister, is a menace to all nations, and Palestine and al-Quds are the two most important concerns facing the Muslim world.

President Ebrahim Raeisi and Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei both received greetings from the Saudi Crown Prince and the Saudi King.

Salman stated that Iran and Saudi Arabia have a strategic connection. He extended the Saudi Arabian offer to the Iranian president once more.
