Iran's electricity output increased by 7 GW in two years

According to a report from Iran's Tasnim news agency, the country's electricity output has increased by 7 gigawatts (GW) in less than two years and since the current Iranian administrative government took office in August 2021, according to statements made in recent days by officials from the Energy Ministry of Iran.

Iran (IMNA) - In the study released on Tuesday, a breakdown of the rise in power output in Iran during the previous two years was provided.

Tables in the study indicated that since August 2021, 31 new thermal power plant units have been installed in Iran, increasing the nation's energy production by 5.3 GW.

It claimed that projects to repair and modernize existing power plants have raised the country's thermal power sector's production by more than 2 GW.

According to the analysis, which included data from the Iranian Energy Ministry and other government agencies, the country's electricity production from renewable sources climbed in Iran over the last two years by 0.175 GW, while output from small generators and hydroelectric dams increased by 0.237 GW and 0.005 GW, respectively.

Tables in the study indicated that since August 2021, 31 new thermal power plant units have been installed in Iran, increasing the nation's energy production by 5.3 GW.

Iran will start up more than 0.9 GW of brand-new energy production capacity by the end of the year to late March, according to the report.

This summer, Iran anticipates a peak demand for power of 73 GW. Tavanir, a state-owned energy provider, reports that its overall production is now at about 60 GW despite warnings that power outages would be unavoidable for companies and industries throughout the summer, when demand for cooling from homes is anticipated to soar to record highs.
