Iran (IMNA) - The Iranian diplomatic post in Jeddah, which had been shuttered since 2016, was reopened on Wednesday during a ceremony in the western Saudi city.
The Iranian flag was flown over the facility while the Iranian national anthem was performed during the event, which was attended by a number of Iranian and Saudi dignitaries.
A separate ceremony, also conducted in Jeddah, the headquarters of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), marked the reopening of the Islamic Republic's Permanent Representative Office at the international organization.
A day earlier, Iran reopened its Embassy in the kingdom's capital, Riyadh, with a similar flag-raising ceremony attended by several Iranian and Saudi officials.
The countries suspended connections in January 2016 following the murder of Sheikh Nimr al-Nimr, a prominent Shia cleric in Saudi Arabia, which sparked heated protests in front of the Saudi Embassy in Tehran and the kingdom's Consulate in Mashhad.
