Iran (IMNA) - On National Persian Gulf Day, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Nasser Kan'ani made the statements during a weekly news conference in Tehran on Monday.
"The Persian Gulf, by this very name, is not a geographical body of water but rather part of the shared historical and cultural identity of the region," he remarked.
"Iran believes that the key to achieving mutual security is to build ties based on the neighborliness policy. Iran's moral approach prioritizes its neighbors.
Iran expresses gratitude to Saudi Arabia for its assistance in evacuating Iranians from Sudan.
Regarding the recent rapprochement between Iran and Saudi Arabia, the spokesman said that the two countries are in the early stages of resuming bilateral relations and reopening embassies, noting that three Iranian diplomatic missions in Riyadh and Jeddah have already begun their operations.
He also thanked Saudi Arabia for its assistance in relocating 65 Iranian individuals who had been evacuated from Sudan.
"By the way, we saw good coordination between the two countries in these early stages of diplomatic activities regarding a humanitarian issue." The unfortunate circumstances in Sudan have offered chances for humanitarian aid. The relocation of 65 Iranian people from Sudan was a beneficial occurrence that occurred under the shadow of Saudi government collaboration with Iran. I must express my gratitude to the Saudi government for their priceless assistance. "It was a very complicated issue," he explained.
The path of talks won't always be available: Kan’ani
The Iranian a spokesperson said the fact that there are no ongoing talks to resurrect the 2015 Iran nuclear agreement does not indicate that diplomatic efforts are stalling or coming to an end.
"The path to diplomacy is open right now, and communication is ongoing. I want to stress that Iran is prepared to end the negotiations as long as they respect its red lines, but the road to conversation won't always be open.
