Iranian reciter secured first place in Quranic competition

An accomplished Iranian reciter of the Holy Quran won the top award in a global Quranic competition held in Saudi Arabia.

Iran (IMNA) - In the second iteration of the Quranic competition Aatr Al Kalam, the scent of words in English, Younes Shahmoradi won the recitation category and was granted a reward of $800,000 (three million Saudi Arabian Riyals) on Friday.

Younes Shahmoradi achieved first place in the recitation category in the second round of the Quranic contest Etr al-kalam, and was granted a reward of $800,000 (three million Saudi Arabian Riyals) on Friday.

Shahmoradi surpassed Saudi Arabia's Abdulaziz al-Faqih, who finished in second place and received $500,000 (two million SAR), Moroccan competitors Zakariya al-Zirak and Abdullah Al-Dughri, who placed third, and Saudi Arabia's Zakariya al-Zirak, who came in fourth.

In the call to prayer category, participants from Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Lebanon, and Britain successively won the top four honors.

In 2019, Saudi Arabia's General Authority for Entertainment conducted a televised competition to recognize extraordinary vocal abilities in Quranic recitation and the call to prayer.
