Iran is all set to help people impacted by catastrophic earthquake

Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian says Iran is "all set" to help anyone impacted by the catastrophic earthquake, which has already claimed hundreds of lives there in neighboring Turkey.

Iran (IMNA) - Iran's Foreign Ministry has urged the international community to put pressure on the United States to ease sanctions on earthquake-ravaged Syria in order to speed up the delivery of humanitarian aid and relief.

In a phone call with his Turkish counterpart, Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, on Monday night, Amir-Abdollahian stated that Tehran is ready to provide any needed assistance to Turkey, where search and rescue efforts are ongoing to free people trapped under the wreckages.

According to the White Helmets, also known as the Syria Civil Defense, hundreds of families are still trapped under the rubble in northwest Syria.

At least 5,021 people have died in Turkey and Syria as a result of a massive magnitude 7.8 earthquake that struck the region early Monday.

The first Iranian plane carrying aid shipments including 45 tons of medical, food and sanitary items arrived at Damascus International Airport in the early hours of Tuesday.
