Isfahan alive with living river, Zayandeh Rood

“We will do whatever is necessary to revive the imperiled Zayandeh Rood and we are not afraid of probable fallout,” the mayor of Isfahan said.

Iran (IMNA) - “Concerning the Zayandeh Rood River, the municipality has always been claimant and responsible. In recent years we have followed up with the President and other affiliated sectors time and time again to maintain water flow in the River. But due to the current and previous year’s rainfall, condition is somehow different. The Zayandeh Roud issue has been considered as the three most important concerns of the municipality because Isfahan is alive with the Zayandeh Rood, the living river. In other words, Isfahan does not make sense without the Zayandeh Rood. In this regard, we will do whatever is necessary to revive and preserve the imperiled Zayandeh Roud and we are not afraid of probable fallout,” the mayor of Isfahan, Qodratollah Norouzi said.

Further, on the subject of cycling as the most efficient mode of transport, the mayor of Isfahan continued, “taking bicycles instead of cars in Isfahan, as a flat city, is essential. We are going to launch a velodrome, an arena for track cycling on the Silk Garden road. As a matter of fact, creating some parts of this route is up to other affiliated agencies. Over the past three years, about eight kilometers have been extended to the cycling routes in the city but in order to replace bicycle as a mode of transport, it is necessary to provide requisite infrastructures and take more effective steps”.
