Iran to set stage for international food festival

The first edition of the "International Food Festival" with the participation of member countries of the Economic Cooperation Organization will be held on August 11 to 26 at the Milad Tower Exhibition Center.

Iran (IMNA) - Presenting and introducing Iranian and international cuisines, identifying high potential talent, selecting of the best culinary talents, introducing top international chefs and promoting food tourism are the main purposes of the festival.

"When it comes to travelling around the world, tourists want to try out the specific food of their destination target. We have to take this opportunity to introduce Iranian dishes. In this regard, we have invited cultural advisers to attend the program. There is no participation restrictions for countries; however, the presented dishes should be Halal," Jalal Zokai, the head of the festival's coordination committee, said.

Saying that Iranian companies active in hospitality, including restaurants, hotels, and tourism agencies will participate in the local section of the festival, he added, "friendship associations, international restaurants as well as embassies will attend the international section."

Referring to the international dimension of the festival, he emphasized, "the core objective of holding the first International Food Festival is to provide the adequate context for people to get acquainted with various cultures across the world, as well as presenting Iranian dishes to the rest of the world."
