US threats against Iranian nuclear sites reflect growing desperation

The head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI), Mohammad Eslami, has said that Washington’s repeated threats to target Iranian nuclear facilities demonstrate its growing desperation.

Iran (IMNA) – In an interview with Russia Today (RT) on Thursday, Eslami stated that US President’s continued threats to attack Kuh-e Kolang, along with previous threats against other locations, clearly indicate Washington’s desperation.

Eslami also criticized International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Rafael Grossi, accusing him of acting as an “obedient agent” of Iran’s adversaries by sharing information about the country’s nuclear program with them.

He said such conduct represents an abuse of the authority entrusted to international institutions and undermines their credibility. According to the AEOI chief, these actions also expose serious shortcomings in the United Nations Charter and the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT).

Strongly condemning what he described as the IAEA director general’s double standards, Eslami said, “These double standards have become so evident that they are now being openly practiced.”

Asked whether Iran would withdraw from the NPT, Eslami said such a decision requires strategic consideration and approval at the highest levels of the country’s leadership, stressing that it falls within Iran’s sovereign authority.

He added that Iran’s decisions on the matter would be made within a broader strategic framework, taking into account national security considerations and national interests.
