Mandagarana Castle is one of the most significant historical landmarks of Marand, located in the eastern part of the city and considered a notable tourist attraction in East Azerbaijan Province.
Iran (IMNA) - This ancient castle, which dates back 6,000 years, suffers from neglect by local authorities. While global tourists are eager to explore such archaeological opportunities, this heritage site in Marand has been buried under a mound of soil and gradually turned into ruins.
Also known as the Merand Hill or Yaldur Hill, Mandagarana Castle dates from the fourth millennium BC to historical periods after the advent of Islam. It was officially registered as one of Iran's national heritage sites on March 21, 1968, under registration number 786.
