Iran (IMNA) - The helicopter carrying President Raeisi and his delegation, including Governor Malek Rahmati and Friday Prayers leader Seyyed Mohammad Ali Al-e Hashem, crashed on Sunday in the Dizmar forest, located between the cities of Varzaqan and Jolfa. They were returning from a dam inauguration ceremony with Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev.
In response to this devastating loss, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, declared a 5-day mourning period in Iran. Funeral ceremonies are scheduled to take place in East Azarbaijan Province, Qom, and Tehran, with a commemoration ceremony planned for high-ranking foreign delegations.
The people of Tabriz, along with provincial and national officials, gathered to pay their respects and honor the memory of the departed leaders.
