On Saturday evening, the 23rd of March, the Zayanderoud river arrived in the captivating city of Isfahan
Iran (IMNA) - As the sun set, it seemed as if "half the world" had gathered beneath the city's historical bridges. A mix of Isfahani locals and Nowruz tourists had been eagerly waiting since morning, anticipating the sight of water flowing through the bed of the Zayandehroud River, alongside these iconic bridges. They sat patiently, enjoying the serene atmosphere. Sadly, the once mighty Zayandehroud River, stretching over 400 kilometers, has faced significant challenges in recent decades. Due to excessive water extraction upstream, the diversion of water to another basin, the growing population, and to some extent, a decrease in rainfall, the river now experiences periodic flow and, during hot seasons like summer, often faces drought.
