Iran (IMNA) - The space of 378 meters known as Bayn al-Haramayn (between the two shrines) separates the Holy Shrine of Imam al-Husayn (a) from the Holy Shrine of al-'Abbas (a).

Iran (IMNA) - Prior to the construction of the two shrines, the area known as Bayn al-Haramayn was home to both residential and commercial structures. Buildings in this space were leveled during the Saddam era so that the shrines could be enlarged and extended, resulting in the construction of the current area. The development of Bayn al-Haramayn was reviewed and put into effect as one of the most significant initiatives for revamping the shrines by Iran and Iraq following the overthrow of Saddam Hussein. Approaching Arbaeen, lovers of Imam Hussein, from various countries converge on Karbala and gather in Bayn al-Haramayn to show their full devotion to Imam Hussein.
