In honor of Eid al-Ghadir, Tehran's two largest squares, Imam Hossein Square and Azadi Square, hosted the "Ten-kilometer Celebration Party" carnival on Friday evening.

Iran (IMNA) - Every year, Shias throughout the world commemorate Eid al-Ghadir in greater splendor. This year, Shias from all over the world gathered in public spaces and sacred spaces to commemorate the historic event.

For Shia Muslims, Eid al-Ghadir is one of the most important occasions since it commemorates the day Ali ibn Abi Talib (AS) was chosen to succeed Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) as the next caliph and head of the Muslim community.

As part of the festivities commemorating the occasion, the streets of Tehran, the capital of Iran, were decked up with green flags and other ornamental elements.
