Thousands of Iranian people observed the last day of Itikaf or secluded devotion, in Grand Mosques across the country.

Iran (IMNA) - The practice of Itikaf is a spiritual retreat in which Muslim worshippers spend a fixed period in a religious self- isolation practice to heal their spiritual wounds.

The religious ritual of Itikaf takes place from 13th to 15th Rajab, the seventh month of the lunar year, when Muslims seclude themselves and devote their time to prayer, supplication, and reciting the Qur’an.

One of the biggest spiritual benefits of Itikaf is that it forces us to shift our attention to God. As worshipers practice the ritual, they eliminate distractions, focus only on their pure relationships with God, and gain a deeper appreciation of the blesses.

The three consecutive days of 13th, 14th and 15th of every lunar month is known as the White days or 'Al-Ayyam al-Bid', because the the moon is in a full shape and shines brightly throughout these days. Practising self- reflection is highly recommended during the Rajab's Al-Ayyam al-Bid .
