Transplanting is a common method of planting rice in puddled fields. Such crop-establishment method requires much more labor compared to direct seeding.

Iran (IMNA) - Majority of paddy fields in Iran are manually transplanted. It includes two types of techniques; random method and Straight-row Method.
Practicing both methods by farmers are strenuous manual labors that require considerable time and effort. Farmers must spend days planting rice seedlings by hand while bending over for hours that may make their fingers being crooked and their backs hunched.

The fields and farmers in these photos are are taken in Gilan province, which is located in Northern Iran. Let's have an adventure with the lush green paddy fields.
