Iranian mourners commemorated the tragic martyrdom anniversary of Ali ibn Musa al-Reza, the eighth Shias’ Imam.
Iran (IMNA) - Today coincides with the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Reza (Peace Be Upon Him), the guarantor of the gazelle.
Every year, Iranians hold mourning rituals across the country to pay respect to Imam Reza (PBUH), who was martyred after being poisoned by the seventh Abbasid Caliph Al-Ma'mun in the year 818 AD.
Several days running up to the occasions, flocks of pilgrims begin a journey on foot to Iran’s holy city of Mashhad, which is home to Imam Reza’s holy shrine.
