In an effort to curb the highly contagious Delta variant, Iranian authorities have imposed a six-day nationwide lockdown from August 16 lasting through August 21.
Iran (IMNA) - The lockdown includes the closure of all non-essential businesses, offices, sport clubs, restaurants, movie theaters as well as bazars in all Iranian cities. people are only be allowed to leave home for essential work or medical reasons.
As part of the strict measures to curb the spread of coronavirus, there are also restrictions on travel between cities, except for essential vehicles carrying foods and medicines; police-operated checkpoints have been based to prevent violators from reaching cities and issue the determined fines.
The Delta variant is circulating at a speed that in many hospitals all intensive care beds are being occupied by Coronavirus infected cases.
