Presidential elections held in Iran on 18 June 2021. It was 13th presidential election in the country since the victory of the Islamic Revolution. Under the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Hassan Rouhani, the incumbent president, was ineligible to run for re-election as he was limited to two consecutive terms or 8 years in office.

Voting extended two hours until 2 am (local time) in some polling centers. The interior ministry said in a statement that polling centers are "obliged to accept ballots as long as there are people at polling stations."

More than 59 million Iranian citizens were eligible to vote.

Iran’s Guardian Council , a 12-member constitutional vetting body under the supervision of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, approved seven candidates for the country's June 18 presidential election of which three later dropped out.

According to the constitution, as soon as the result is known, the Supreme Leader will sign the decree of the elected president. After that, the new president must recite and sign an oath in a session of the Islamic Consultative Assembly.

Vote counting has immediately started at 2 a.m and is currently underway.
