The Serbian ambassador to Iran, Dragan Todorovic, met with the mayor of Isfahan Ghodratollah Norouzi.
Iran (IMNA) - Saying that the unique and global city of Isfahan is home to global human heritage, the mayor of Isfahan noted, "Isfahan and Serbian cities have certain capacities; in today's world those communities will be successful that put such capacities into practice in order to increase and improve the living conditions for their citizens.
"Despite the fact that we are struggling with both oppressive sanctions and the coronavirus pandemic, and the country's cross-border economic exchanges are facing challenges, Isfahan is witnessing the urban dynamism and development more than ever," he added.
Emphasizing that the blooming of relations between Isfahan and different parts of the world has been on the agenda of the municipality in recent years, the mayor of Isfahan, Ghodratollah Norouzi continued, "The triangular relationship of Iran, Russia and Serbia can be generalized in the context of urban diplomacy."
"Necessary studies have been carried out to find the areas of interaction with the city of Belgrade, Serbia; the cultural, economic and tourism fields have been discovered suitable to enhance the reciprocal relationship. Serbia has a great potential in academia, steel industry, culture and cinema: the areas in most of which Isfahan shines in the world areassage," Norouzi pointed out.
Noting that Belgrade and Isfahan can take steps to sign a memorandum of uadnderstanding, Ghodratollah Norouzi said, "I suggest that the ambassador of Serbia to Iran follows through this proposal so that the municipality of Isfahan can adopt the measures to conclude a sisterhood agreement after the approval of the competent authorities."
He added, "Also, in conversation with the president of the University of Isfahan, I will propose the establishment the chair of Persian Language for Serbs so that they can receive the necessary training in learning Farsi."
