Surekilen Park is considered as an extraordinary urban space located in Copenhagen, Denmark. Creativity and novel idea of bringing together various objects from 60 nationalities make this park as an outstanding and popular place in the world.

Iran (IMNA) - Superkilen is an urban open space located in the Nørrebro district of Copenhagen, Denmark. Developed by Superflex in collaboration with Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG) and Topotek1. This public park was officially opened in June 2012.

Exhibition of diversities

Undoubtedly, Superkilen is collection of various objects from different nationalities and that is the most important feature that make it well-known and remarkable public park all over the world.

This popular park is home of different objects from East to West-- from 60 different nationalities of people inhabiting in the surrounding area. You can find a sound system from Jamaica and an elephant slide from Chernobyl. Moreover, it is home to Thai boxing ring and exercise gear from Santa Monica beach. Existence of lamppost from UAE, swing benches from Baghdad, palm trees from China and neon signs from Qatar and Russia make this public park as a popular place not only in Denmark, but in the world.

Short definition about each object is inscribed on a small stainless plate. Information regarding what it is and where it is from is written both in Danish and in its origin language(s). In fact, these multinational objects in Superkilen, portray a sort of surrealist collection of urban diversity and reflect a true picture of the local neighborhood.

Three Zones, Three Colors

In Superkilen, colors are considered as a significant matter regarding different purposes. Indeed, this remarkable park is divided into three main areas following three colors: The Red Square, The Black Market and The Green Park. As a matter of fact, these main colors: green, black and red come together in order to integrate new and dynamic surroundings for everyday activities.  

The Red Square is an ideal place for physical activities such as team sports and outdoors fitness. The Green Park is dedicated to parties and family get-togethers. This friendship zone is designed as a scenery with hills, playgrounds and picnic spots and finally, The Black Market invites everybody for relaxation. In this wedge, there are chess tables and benches but at weekends this part of the park is turned into local bazaar for traders and hawkers.
