Iranian Energy Minister Reza Ardakanian said that recent tariff concessions have eased the export of Iranian goods to the Northern Caucasus region, calling for further cuts to have sharp increase in trade between the countries of the region.

Speaking on the sidelines of the 15th session of the Joint Commission of Iran-Russia Business and Economic Cooperation in Isfahan on Tuesday, Ardakanian said that Iran is ready to supply its products to the countries of the region, specially Russia, using tariff exemptions and preferential tariffs.

"Now Iranian products are being introduced in the region, but tariff exemptions have accelerated the supply and attracting a more comprehensive and expanding market,” he highlighted.

The senior Iranian official went on to say that for example, Russia alone has about $300 billion worth of imports in the region each year, and facilitating Iran's supply conditions could lead to a good market in that country.

Pointing to the appropriate market for exporting the products, the minister emphasized, “A 200 million- people market in the region are now waiting for more mobility and supply of Iranian products.”

Ardakanian noted the agreements to improve the activities of agricultural, industrial, artificers and pharmaceutical producers in Iran, adding that these agreements have been developed to increase the export share of the country's manufacturing complexes.

The 15th summit of the Joint Commission on Iran-Russia Economic and Commercial Cooperation, with the presence of secretaries of the commission and members of the working groups, officials and activists of the private and public sectors of the two countries, began in Tehran on Sunday afternoon, and ended today in Isfahan, with the closing ceremony and the signing of 12 documents of economic cooperation and trade between the two countries.

Earlier on Tuesday, Ardakanian said that Tehran and Moocow reached very good and effective agreements during intensive talks between the two countries' ministers and traders in the past 3 days.

Addressing the closing ceremony of the 15th joint economic cooperation meeting of Iran and Russia in Iranian central city of Isfahan today, Ardakanian said that the two countries were expected to sign 7 documents of cooperation today, devised in the framework of bilateral agreements, but the extensive participation of the Russian side led to the endorsement of 12 documents.

The Iranian minister went on recounting some of the agreements, adding that the two countries have agreed to sign documents on optimizing Ramin power plant in Iran's Southwestern city of Ahvaz, expand cooperation in areas of electric energy, air transportation, and rail transportation, as well as starting the electrification of Garmsar-Inche Borun rail route in Northern Iran within the next 2 months.

He added that the two counties have also agreed to cooperate on electrifying rail routes of Sarakhs-Bandar Abbas and Tehran-Tabriz. Constructing rail tracks between Chabahar and Zahedan to link the two major cities of Sistan and Baluchistan Province to the rail route to the strategic Northeastern city of Mashhad was also agreed.

The minister added that the two countries have also agreed to increase trade in area of farmed fish and medicine.

Setting up marine route in the Caspian Sea for recreational purposes was another area of agreement between Tehran and Moscow.

Expanding Bushehr atomic energy power plant is also another area, the two countries have agreed to cooperate on for further bilateral interactions.

Russian companies will also build 4 thermal power plants in Iran’s Southern province of Hormuzgan, Ardakanian highlighted, recounting the agreements brokered in the last 3 days.

Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak said on Monday that both Tehran and Moscow are resolute to further increase bilateral ties in all areas, particularly in economic fields where Washington has put its weight to isolate the Islamic Republic.

Speaking in a dinner banquet held in honor of dignitaries taking part in the 15th joint economic cooperation meeting of Iran and Russia in Isfahan, Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak acknowledged good neighborly relations and partnership of Iran and Russia, saying both countries are determined to promote cooperation.

Novak gave assurances that the current event in historical city of Isfahan will help develop economic and cultural cooperation between the two countries.

Earlier on Sunday, Ardakanian in a meeting with Minister of North Caucasus Affairs Sergei Chebotarev, said that Tehran adopted mechanism to facilitate partnership between the Iranian and Russian private sectors in a bid to help bolster economic ties.

Meanwhile, Chebotarev described political determination of Iranian and Russian presidents as the most important means to ensure on-time implementation of development projects in both sides.

Necessary structures have been created by the Russian government, he said, adding that all Russian organizations have put on their agenda promoting relations with Iran, he said.

He added that Russia is interested in exporting red meat and crops to Iran.

Russia has voiced its determination to form a bloc in defiance of US’ unilateral economic pressures. In a most recent case of Russian opposition to Washington’s moves, Russian Ambassador to Tehran Levan Dzhagaryan said on Sunday that Tehran, Beijing and Moscow are needed to form a strategic trilateral cooperation to defy the US unilateral measures against the landmark nuclear agreement of 2015.
