For several years now, “the museum of Saray-e Rahgosha” displays the history of Badrud; its goal is to build a connection between different generations.
Isfahan (IMNA) - Historical stories are narrated by a group of dolls with a sweet Persian-French accent. The chief narrator of this museum is “Miriam Gotes” with the Persian name of “Maryam Rahgoshai” who is a French woman who tries to develop the Iranian culture to the whole world.
What made you think of creating a museum?
In February 2000, after the death of my father-in-law, we didn’t have the hearth to close the door of his house. His family name was Rahgosha, and he always tried to find solutions for the people’s problems; he had judged among people, and he always wanted people in the society to be in peace; therefore, people had a positive attitude toward him. So we thought that we can use this house in a way that it would be a place for communicating between the generations and consequently strength the sense of Iranian identity among children.
What does attract the audiences’ attention in your museum?
Here is a live museum that always there is news there. A French woman welcomes the visitors, and the guests are hospitalized. As they see how a French woman is familiar with Iranian culture and she is the narrator of the museum, they will be surprised. Here is a paradise for the photographers and directors. So far, more than 10 diverse documentaries about the museum, both domestic and foreign, have been broadcasted. TV programs also show our museum’s cultural activities.
What are the opinions of your friends who have not came to Iran about your presence in this country?
They are eager to see a country with such vast and wide tourism capacities such as being a 4-season country. In fact, Iran is a vast country; as the cradle of civilization, Iran is a paradise for the French tourists who love to discover different culture and art. In my opinion, the cultural exchange among the nations is one of the factors that causes the global peace.
What is the museum’s plan for future?
Our purpose is to preserve and revive the intangible heritage, customs, traditional festivals that are being forgotten. I think that the amount of success of our activities has been impressive in terms of attracting the young and teenager generation to the old heritage and their roots. It’s our wish to activate the sense of Iranian identity of our children.
