Markazi Province, under the slogan “Markazi: Cradle of Distinguished Figures and a Driving Force of National Industry,” is hosting the 11th edition of the national Iran Jan initiative, offering an opportunity to showcase the province’s rich cultural heritage, natural attractions, industrial capabilities and untapped potential to audiences across Iran.

Iran (IMNA) - Located in the heart of Iran, Markazi covers approximately 29,500 square kilometers and is home to around 1.5 million people. Its diverse geographical landscape stretches from mountainous terrain and elevated regions to broad plains and fertile agricultural areas. This geographical diversity, combined with its historical legacy, renowned personalities and economic strengths, has shaped the province’s distinctive identity.

The Iran Jan initiative seeks to present a more comprehensive picture of Markazi, highlighting not only its contribution to Iran’s industrial development but also its cultural, scientific, historical and natural assets. Through a range of media productions, the initiative aims to introduce the province’s lesser-known attractions, local traditions, historical landmarks and economic opportunities to a wider audience.

Markazi’s reputation as an industrial powerhouse is closely associated with its manufacturing base and the concentration of major industries in and around Arak, the provincial capital. Its industrial landscape encompasses a range of production activities, while agriculture and related industries also contribute to the local economy. Together, these sectors underscore the province’s importance to Iran’s production capacity and economic development.

Beyond its industrial profile, Markazi has a rich legacy of intellectual and cultural achievement. The province is associated with influential figures in politics, science, religion, literature and the arts, reflecting its longstanding contribution to Iran’s cultural and intellectual life. Its historic settlements, traditional architecture, handicrafts and local customs offer further insight into the region’s heritage and enduring traditions.

The province’s natural environment adds another dimension to its appeal. Its mountains, plains and varied climatic conditions create a diverse landscape that supports different forms of agriculture and offers opportunities for nature-based tourism. From rural communities and traditional landscapes to historic urban centers, Markazi brings together natural and human-made attractions that merit greater recognition.

By placing these diverse assets in the national spotlight, Iran Jan aims to move beyond a predominantly industrial image of Markazi and present the province as a region where cultural heritage, human achievement, natural diversity and economic production intersect. The initiative provides a platform to strengthen public awareness of the province’s identity, highlight its development potential and introduce its distinctive character to audiences throughout the country.
