Millions Join Funeral Procession for Martyr Ayatollah Khamenei in Tehran

The funeral procession for the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, began in Tehran on Monday morning as millions of mourners gathered across the Iranian capital for the farewell ceremony.

Iran (IMNA) - The procession also honors several members of Ayatollah Khamenei's family who were martyred alongside him, including his daughter, Martyr Bushra Hosseini Khamenei; his son-in-law, Martyr Mesbah al-Hoda Bagheri; his daughter-in-law, Martyr Zahra Haddad-Adel; and his granddaughter, Martyr Zahra Mohammadi Golpayegani.

The funeral route starts from Damavand Street in eastern Tehran, passes through Enqelab and Azadi streets in the city center, and continues along Lashkari Highway to Iran-Khodro Boulevard in western Tehran.

Subway stations located along the funeral route have been filled with mourners traveling to attend the ceremony.

The procession follows funeral prayers held on Sunday morning at Tehran's Imam Khomeini Grand Mosalla, where Ayatollah Ja’far Sobhani led the prayers.

Following the ceremonies in Tehran, the body of the martyred Leader is scheduled to be transferred for additional funeral ceremonies in Qom and the Iraqi holy cities of Najaf and Karbala before being laid to rest in the holy city of Mashhad.

Ayatollah Khamenei and several members of his household were martyred in terrorist attacks carried out by the American and Israeli regimes during what Iranian authorities describe as an unprovoked war of aggression against the country.
