Iran (IMNA) - In an interview with TASS, the Iraqi envoy said Baghdad remains ready to facilitate dialogue between Washington and Tehran, recalling its previous role in hosting indirect negotiations between the two countries.
"In 2014, Iraq hosted the first indirect negotiations between the US and Iran. Iraq is always ready to play this role, but it depends on the will and the wish of the two partners, the US and Iran," Hashim Mostafa said.
The ambassador also said the conflict involving Iran, the United States, and Israel has had limited impact on the daily lives of ordinary Iraqis.
He noted that numerous Israeli rockets targeting Iran had crossed Iraqi airspace, as well as the airspace of Syria, Lebanon, and at times Jordan, adding that only a limited number of countries possess the technical capability to intercept such projectiles.
"Unfortunately, a lot of Israeli rockets flew [toward Iran] from not only Iraqi air space, but also Syrian, Lebanese, sometimes Jordanian, and few of countries have the technical possibility to counter this," he said.
