Sharif Expresses Optimism for Early Iran-US Talks, Says Pakistan Ready to Host Next Roun

Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif expressed hope on Sunday that the next round of negotiations between Iran and the United States would take place in the near future, reiterating his country’s commitment to facilitating dialogue between the two sides.

Iran (IMNA) – In an interview with the Al-Mayadeen network, Sharif stated that Islamabad would continue its mediation efforts and expressed optimism about hosting the upcoming talks soon.

The prime minister also revealed that Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir had represented Pakistan in a telephone conversation with former US President Donald Trump.

Sharif’s remarks came a day after Munir’s intensive diplomatic visit to Tehran on Saturday. During his trip, the army chief held three separate meetings with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, held talks with President Masoud Pezeshkian, and also conferred with Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf.

In his meeting with Munir, Ghalibaf reaffirmed that Iran would not back down from its legitimate rights. He also issued a warning, saying that any renewed outbreak of hostilities would lead to even more severe and bitter consequences for the United States.
