Iran (IMNA) – In its reply, delivered through a Pakistani mediator, Tehran has made a ceasefire in Lebanon a "red line," a source told Lebanon’s Al-Mayadeen TV on Sunday.
The Iranian source added that Tehran has linked some proposed understandings to guarantees that would end the escalation of tensions in Lebanon. Any agreement with Washington, the source said, must include an immediate end to the war as soon as it is declared.
Iran’s response also emphasizes the lifting of U.S. sanctions and the release of Iran’s frozen assets, the source said, calling specifically for the removal of OFAC restrictions on the sale of Iranian oil.
The response further specifies that Iran would manage the Strait of Hormuz within the framework of the proposed understandings. The proposed agreement includes 30 days of talks following a ceasefire to discuss details, and Iran has put forward reciprocal steps to test Washington’s seriousness in implementing its commitments.
For now, negotiations between Tehran and Washington will continue in writing through the Pakistani mediator, the Iranian diplomatic source concluded.
