Iran Stresses Diplomacy Over Conflict in Talks With Egypt

Iran says it prioritizes resolving disputes through diplomacy and rejects confrontation, President Masoud Pezeshkian said during a phone call with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi.

Iran (IMNA) - According to an official statement, the two leaders spoke late Saturday and underscored the need to intensify diplomatic efforts to reduce regional tensions and promote unity among Islamic nations.

President Pezeshkian thanked Islamic countries for what he described as their “sincere, responsible, and brotherly” support for Iran and their role in easing tensions in the region. He reaffirmed Iran’s core policy of strengthening domestic unity and expanding friendly relations with neighboring and Islamic states.

Pezeshkian directly criticized the United States and Israel, accusing them of escalating hostilities, imposing wars and sanctions, and fueling internal unrest in Iran. He stressed that Iran has never sought war, saying conflict benefits neither Iran, nor the United States, nor the region.

Highlighting Iran’s diplomatic approach, the president emphasized the need for “dignified diplomacy from a position of equality and free from threats” as a basis for constructive dialogue. He reiterated that for the Islamic Republic, diplomacy has always taken precedence over war, while warning that any aggression against Iranian territory would trigger a “decisive and powerful response.”

President el-Sisi expressed his hopes for peace, stability, and security for the Iranian people and the wider region. He agreed that there is no military solution to current regional challenges and cautioned that further escalation would have negative consequences for all countries involved.

The Egyptian leader also reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to easing regional tensions and voiced his country’s readiness to support diplomatic initiatives aimed at resolving disputes and reinforcing regional stability.
