Iran (IMNA) - Shamkhani emphasized that Iran's absolute priority is maintaining total readiness to deter threats. Speaking to Al Mayadeen, he clarified that any action reflecting hostile intent would trigger a proportionate and effective response. Notably, he warned that this response could include strikes targeted deep inside occupied Palestine.
Furthermore, Shamkhani noted that Iran does not confine the "geography of confrontation" to maritime domains. Instead, Tehran has developed and prepared for broader, more advanced scenarios that transcend sea-based conflict.
The Iranian official cautioned that the expansion of war across the region should be a collective concern. Drawing on historical precedents, he argued that regional conflicts rarely remain contained.
Shamkhani claimed that Iran has successfully uncovered the operational plans of its adversaries. This oversight allows Tehran to:
1. Maintain full monitoring of enemy movements.
2. Direct strikes at critical chokepoints.
3. Choose the specific timing of its counter-operations.
"If necessary, the Islamic Republic of Iran will resort to more fundamental and effective options to defend its national security and territorial integrity," Shamkhani stated. He added that the responsibility for any resulting consequences would rest entirely with any party attempting to break the will of the Iranian people through force.
Addressing potential U.S. military actions, Shamkhani rejected the notion of a "limited strike" as a dangerous illusion. He stated that any military action against Iran, regardless of its pretext or scale, would be viewed as the definitive start of a war and would be met with an immediate, full-scale response.
