The Iranian Foreign Ministry has issued a strong condemnation of the interventionist remarks made by US officials regarding developments within Iran. Iran (IMNA) - In a statement released on January 7, 2026, the ministry asserted that the US positions are not motivated by concern for the Iranian people. Instead, they align with a policy of “maximum pressure, threats, and interference” in Iran's domestic affairs. This meddling stance is seen as an attempt to incite violence and terrorism, compromising stability within the nation.

The statement highlighted that peaceful protests are acknowledged under the Iranian Constitution, and the government is committed to addressing legitimate public demands in accordance with the law. It emphasized that while efforts are underway to alleviate economic difficulties, many challenges originate from the US’s aggressive economic and financial tactics, exemplified by illegal sanctions.

Additionally, the ministry pointed out that US actions against Iran transcend economic pressure, involving psychological warfare, media campaigns, misinformation, military threats, and incitement to violence and terrorism. Such conduct, it noted, contradicts the principles of the United Nations Charter, international law, and human rights foundations.

Reflecting on the US's long history of hostility and interference in Iran, the ministry cited the 1953 coup against the then-democratically-elected government, US support for Iraq’s Ba’athist regime during its eight-year war against Iran, participation alongside Israel in illegal military actions, and the imposition of unilateral sanctions.

The ministry urged the international community to recognize the illegal and inhumane nature of the unilateral coercive measures imposed by the United States, emphasizing that these sanctions adversely affect the livelihoods of Iranians and constitute crimes against humanity.

In conclusion, the statement asserted that the Islamic Republic would counter foreign interference with vigilance, relying on its Islamic heritage and bolstered national unity, firmly resisting any attempt by US policies to undermine its sovereignty and dignity.

In related remarks, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi reiterated that Iran's internal affairs are solely the concern of its people, dismissing foreign interference. Speaking to reporters after a cabinet session, he emphasized that no outside power has the right to dictate Iran's internal matters and criticized Washington's obstructive diplomatic stance, stating that current US policies complicate meaningful negotiations. He reaffirmed Tehran's readiness for talks based on mutual respect and interests.

Recently, US officials, including President Donald Trump, claimed that the United States might resort to military aggression against Iran if it perceived Tehran to be suppressing protests linked to the decline of the Iranian rial. The Islamic Republic has reiterated its commitment to addressing economic protests while firmly opposing any attempts to convert these protests into disorder.
