Iran, Brazil Foreign Ministers Discuss Global Issues and Venezuela Situation

A telephone conversation took place between the foreign ministers of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Brazil, focusing on bilateral relations and current international developments.

Iran (IMNA) - Seyed Abbas Araghchi, Iran's Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Mauro Vieira, Brazil’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, addressed the importance of close cooperation among developing nations in international forums to counter unilateralism while supporting international law and the principles of the United Nations Charter.

During the discussion, Araghchi condemned the recent U.S. military actions against Venezuela and the reported abduction of the Venezuelan president and his wife. He described these actions as a clear violation of the United Nations Charter and the fundamental principles of international law, warning of the dangerous repercussions of U.S. bullying policies on the rule of law in international relations.

Brazil’s foreign minister echoed Araghchi’s principled stance, asserting that the abduction of a president of an independent nation by the United States breaches the UN Charter. Vieira also stated that Brazil would address this issue in meetings of the UN Security Council, the Organization of American States, and the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States.
