Iran Announces Three New Nuclear Achievements

The Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) has announced the registration of three major nuclear achievements, including the inauguration of the country’s first fully indigenous industrial accelerator.

Iran (IMNA) - Behrouz Kamalvandi, spokesperson for the AEOI, made the remarks on Tuesday after attending a session of the Iranian Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, where he briefed lawmakers on the organization’s latest developments.

Kamalvandi said that three fundamental advances were recorded by the organization just one day earlier. He noted that, for the first time, an industrial accelerator has been launched in Iran, with applications spanning environmental protection, medicine, nuclear technology, and scientific research.

According to the spokesperson, the accelerator is entirely homegrown, having been designed and built by Iranian specialists over a four-year period, and officially entered operation this week.

He also highlighted the launch of advanced Carbon-13 production through the installation of a 12-meter tower at a semi-industrial scale. The isotope is used extensively in medicine, nuclear science, radiopharmaceuticals, various industries, and environmental studies.

In addition, Kamalvandi announced the successful reactivation of a cyclotron that had remained inactive for nearly two years due to sanctions that hindered the import of required components. He said Iranian experts managed to domestically produce all the necessary parts, enabling the cyclotron to resume operations on Monday and contribute to radiopharmaceutical production.
