Iran (IMNA) – Baghaei said the sustained attacks on Gaza, alongside obstacles to the entry of humanitarian assistance, amount to grave crimes that require immediate and effective action by the international community and the United Nations. He stressed that international institutions are responsible for stopping the crimes and holding those responsible for war crimes and genocide accountable.
Referring to a recent resolution adopted by the United Nations General Assembly on the advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice (ICJ), Baghaei noted that the resolution highlights the obligation of all states, under Common Article 1 of the 1949 Geneva Conventions, to ensure respect for international humanitarian law.
He condemned what he described as repeated and blatant violations of humanitarian law by the Israeli regime, including war crimes, crimes against humanity, and genocide, and emphasized the urgent need to end what he called the regime’s impunity.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman also described the United States and other military and political supporters of Israel as complicit in the genocide of Palestinians and other crimes committed in the occupied Palestinian territories, as well as in Lebanon and Syria.
Baghaei added that despite declared ceasefires in Gaza and Lebanon, Israel continues its attacks with full US support and amid what he described as the indifference of ceasefire guarantors, resulting in further violence in Palestinian territories and Lebanon.
