Iran (IMNA) – Speaking on Wednesday to a gathering of hundreds of women and girls from across the country held on the occasion of National Mother's Day—marking the birth anniversary of Hazrat Fatemeh Zahra (AS), the daughter of the Holy Prophet—he emphasized that women and men are complementary partners in building civilization, sharing equal dignity and unity according to Islamic teachings.
The Leader cautioned against adopting Western cultural narratives and stressed the importance of respecting women’s rights. Highlighting the West’s insistence on exporting what he described as its false culture, Ayatollah Khamenei said, “They claim that certain restrictions on women, including the hijab, will hinder their progress, but the Islamic Republic has refuted this false logic and shown that a Muslim woman, bound by Islamic dress, can play a role in all areas more than others.”
He pointed to the significant progress Iranian women have achieved since the 1979 Islamic Revolution in scientific, sports, intellectual, research, political, social, and health fields. He noted that Iranian women have reached these accomplishments while remaining honorable wives and deeply devoted to family responsibilities.
“Islam insists on full respect for women’s rights,” Ayatollah Khamenei added, stressing that the Holy Quran places great value on women and their social roles.
