Iran (IMNA) - Baghaei denounced the announcement, saying it constitutes a “gross breach” of international legal standards, including the regulations that govern international air transport. He added that the move represents yet another instance of the United States engaging in provocative and unlawful actions targeting Venezuela’s national sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Calling the decision “arbitrary” and “an unprecedented threat to international aviation safety,” the spokesperson warned that such actions could have dangerous consequences for the rule of law and pose risks to international peace and security.
The condemnation came after US President Donald Trump on Saturday declared that Venezuela’s airspace would be “closed in its entirety,” following earlier statements in which he vowed that land strikes would begin “very soon.”
Tensions between Washington and Caracas have escalated significantly in recent months, with the United States conducting multiple military and security operations in the Caribbean and around Venezuela—activities that have drawn widespread international criticism and condemnation.
